The most expensive shoes in the world: House of Harry Winston’s Ruby Shoes
Shoes have a long history and through time they became more than a necessity because of the fashion industry. It is said that shoes are women’s best friends and they tend to lash out for some shoes that they like. But how many women would pay $3 million for a single pair? That’s how much the most expensive shoes in the world cost. They were made for a special occasion, in 1989 at the fiftieth anniversary of “The Wizard of Oz”, when Ronald Winston recreated the shoes that Dorothy wore in the movie. Instead of the original sequins he used 1,350 carats of rubies, meaning 4600 pieces, and 50 carats of diamonds. It took two months to be finished and the only woman who had the chance to wear them was Judy Garland, the actress who played Dorothy.
